A few weeks ago I took on a photography project for our church and the evangelism committee. I have been pretty busy taking photographs at the 8:00 AM (yeah, that is REALLY early for me on a Sunday) and the 9:30 AM services, and then attending meetings and doing post production work in Photoshop. Ninety-five percent of the images are candids, very little is posed or staged. I am not permitted to make images within the sanctuary during the actual services, so the majority of images are from before, between and after services. I have made a few images of the actual service by shooting through the glass of the doors at a very high ASA setting (can't use flash during service). The images will be used as part of an ad campaign called the "You..." Campaign. In each of the finsihed images one person is in color and the rest of the image is in B&W. My photo, The Girl in the Blue-Green Hair was the inspiration for the campaign. Each finished image will have text placed on it along the lines of, "YOU are a child of God" or "YOU are a good shepherd" and the like. The church is also going to set up the fellowship center so I can have a "gallery show" of all of the finished images. You can see the finsihed and unfinsihed images on the First Lutheran Church Flickr site.
