July 17th is No Photography Day ~ WTF?

Via Steve K.

WOW! Today, June 29th is - or was, depending on when you read this - National Camera Day. I have been involved with photography since 1983 and I have NEVER heard of National Camera Day until now. I'll research it later. Well, in response to NCD, it is proposed that July 17th be No Camera Day, or NCD for short. Anyway, read this and discuss.

I can see the point. It's something that I'm constantly reminding Donna of -- and myself: It's important to remember to enjoy yourself at a location or an event, so, put the camera down from time to time.

Unless, of course, you're not being paid to enjoy yourself. Then, you'd better get that shot!

I have the decision to make of "to take or not to take the camera" each day. Hell, I take the camera to the grocery store! The camera was always with/near me while on vacation. I just can't leave my camera at home. My camera seems like such a part of me, like some other body parts, that to leave it behind would be like going out and leaving my penis at home in a box, in the drawer, by the bed. Unthinkable!!!!

I don't feel that I have missed any part of an experience or event because I was looking through my camera. No Camera Day to me is not going to happen. NFW.
