Jenne and I have returned fro our much too short vacation to Ocracoke Island, Outer Banks, NC. We arrived home Saturday late afternoon a few minutes after five PM. We had a fantastic time and I am currently downloading somewhere around three-hundred images from various memory cards. Photos will start appearing on this and my Flickr page soon.
Highlights of the trip include...
* A wonderful day on Portsmouth Island searching for sea shells (of which there are thousands) and swimming in tidal pools.
* A susnet cruise on the schooner, Windfall.
* A visit to Pelican Island.
* A visit to Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills, NC.
* The making of new island friends.
* Jenne's first ride across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
* Red 5 - my MINI Cooper - being a huge hit on Ocracoke and the ice breaker for many a fine conversation. (1)
* Wonderul dining experiences at the many fine restaurants on Ocracoke. The best by far was the Cafe Atlantic.
* Trying each Hefeweizen beer on Howard Pub's beer list (they have over 225 beers) and the eating of hushpuppies.
* Discovery of Ocracoke's "cloting optional" beach!
Look for photos later today and throughout the week.
(1) Red 5 is very dirty, sandy and salty both inside and out from our grand experience and will take quite a bit of cleaning, but that is what beach vacations and pure motoring are all about.
Welcome back y'all..............looking forward to seeing your images..........did I ever tell you I'm from N. Carolina?
