Deer In Our Yard

Deer In Our Yard
Originally uploaded by manahanwill.
When I came home on Thursday from my job at the mall I noticed several deer moving through our yard. We live in a town home community situated on the highest ridge line in Howard County and bordered on three sides by woods. We see lots of wildlife, but not often do we see deer so close to the homes. In the late afternoon light four small deer moved cautiously along the brush line that seperates our property from that of Baltimore Gas & Electric. San (rhymes with Khan), our female Bengal cat, stood next to me as I made photographs. She growled at the deer and her tail became like a bottle brush.
"San, honey, those deer are much larger than you."
"grrrrrrrrrrrrr," she replied in defense of our property. She is quite the huntress. In a few moments the deer had moved on down the hill and back into the woods.

wow, they must have really been looking for water to get that close to your house! I bet San would have chased them even if she HAD seen how big they were - she's ferocious!! ;-)
