Red 5 Meets Robin Red Breast

Red 5 & Robin Red Breast 02
Originally uploaded by manahanwill.
This morning, a North American Robin saw fit to attack its reflection in the passenger side window of my MINI Cooper, Red 5. My neighbor, Laureen called to alert me to the bird's actions. I of course went immediatley outside with camera in hand. Laureen told me that the bird had been at this for near an hour. In that hour the Robin made somewhat of a mess on the side of Red 5, which is now cleaned up. See a sceond photo on my Flickr site.

well, we all fight with ourselves from time to time, but most don't do it quite as literally as birds who catch their reflection. Male robins are aggressive at chasing off "competitors" once they stake out a spot and start their love songs. Hopefully this guy will get a mate soon and stop, er, making a mess of your car. Great photo, by the way!

From the look of things, I'd say the robin is trying to mate WITH the Mini! Have a wonderful and peaceful Easter Will and Jenne!
