Of Job Searching and Photography

Yeah, I am around. It's just that I am busy working on finding that new job/career. It's very tiring work, this not working. Going to career fairs, talking to recruiters, writing multiple resumes, registering on multiple web sites, trying to put a positive spin on being dismissed, dealing with my own damaged self and fighting mood swings. Some evenings I am in bed at 8:30! On the other hand, I admit that I love being home all day. It's cool being the 'house husband.' What's not cool is not having money coming in. Jenne can't do it all and it wouldn't be fair to expect that of her. We are a team after all and I am not the kind of person to take advantage of others. Especially those I love.

So to take a break from the hunt I worked on three photos. These images were made last Saturday when Jenne and I went on the annual Antietam National Battlefield Volunteer field trip. This year the chartered bus took us to sites related to John Brown and the Underground Railroad in Washington County, MD and Franklin County, PA. One stop was the town of Chambersburg, PA. John Brown stayed here quite often when he was planning his Harper's Ferry raid. He even met Frederick Douglas here. unfortunately the weather was wet, windy and cold, so there's not a lot of outdoor photos. Of the three places that we did go in the best - for photographs - was the heritage center. We did go in to a very old chapel in Sharpsburg, MD, but I didn't have the time or the lighting to make good images. Maybe some other time. Anyway, click on the photo at the right and be sure to view the other two images in this three image study. I am off to get some lunch and then back to my list of goals for the day. I still have four items on the list to complete and then have the satisfaction of drawing a line through!

Hey, Happy job hunting. Hope that the hunt is short and sweet!

I love lists of things to do! It seems I have a collection of them - and actually, I just read that it is charecteristic of my Meyers Briggs Personality type (INFP)I was supposed to be researching the best types of jobs for YOUR personality type (ENFP) - the arts is the obvious big one. But you know, it stressed that the kind of work environment is almost more important than the job itself (whereas an introvert like me can stand it almost anywhere if she finds something worthwhile about the job) The environment MUST be lively, and the work varied. Teaching came up quite a bit - what about doing computer training? You'd be awesome. You're very clear and any class you taught would be loads of fun. The other thing the sites I was looking at said was that ENFP's go through a lot of career changes, and it's normal not to "settle down" in a field until mid-life. This is just a short hiatus before you start doing great things. I have faith in you :-)
