A long dead tree stands alone in a field, away from the living forest. Howard County, MD April 7th, 2006.

When I was working in Rockville I passed by this scene every day on my commute. Everyday that I passed by I told myself, "you need to stop and photograph that before they remove that dead tree." yesterday, almost two weeks after losing tthat job I finally made that photo and I drove a third of the way to that old job to do it. I needed to get out of the house. I was spending too much time in front of the computer searching for a new job, a new career and winning lottery numbers. So Friday, in the rain, I grabbed the camera and took off to see a dead tree in the middle of neglected field. It was great to get out for a couple of hours.

All you got to do is call. Isn't that the name of a song.
We can go shoot anywhere you want.

Nice pic, Will. The contrast levels look really good. Did you take that with the D70?

"make a statement without saying a word"...but so much better than not expressing yourself at all!!

I find Untitled landscape very symbolic of your situation, Will. The tree is pretty beat up, maybe it was struck by lightening, and yet it stands, tall and straigth with dignity, not accepting defeat. Who knows, maybe it will even regain some strength and start sprouting soon! Either way, it is beautiful just the way it is!
