Blue Bird at Antietam

Blue Bird at Antietam

I photographed this little guy last weekend after I finished my day of volunteering at Antietam National Battlefield, Sharpsburg, MD.

This time of year the North American Blue Birds are out in force across the fields of Antietam National Battlefield. The Park Service has over a hundred Blue Bird house set up on poles and fences and the birds fly in couples to each looking for the perfect home for the Spring and Summer.

This photo also demonstrates that to do really good wildlife photography - which this isn't, it's okay - I need a really really long lens. My 50-450 mm lens just doesn't cut it when making wildlife photos.

blue birds are always considered messengers of good news - it's good luck to see them, so if you saw a flock, surely good news is coming your way!

"There'll be love and laughter
And peace ever after
Tomorrow, when the world is free....

There'll be blue birds over
The white cliffs of dover
Tomorrow, just you wait and see"

Is that 50-450 before or after the D70 crop factor?
