Battlestar Friday SUPER HAPPY FAMILY CYLON SECRET ISSUE 03.03.06

Can you believe that tonight is the beginning of the end of second season? There are only two more episodes and then the long hiatus until July. Well, I will just fill the time from ten until eleven PM with board, computer and console games. I even have a Battlestar Galactica game for the X-Box of which I have only played the first five or six missions. It’s a beautifully rendered game that takes place way back when William Adama was a young up-and-coming Viper pilot with the rank of lieutenant. A far way from the rank of Admiral that he holds now. The reason I haven’t played the game so much is that there are no save points within the missions and the missions are really long. So, if ya get shot down anywhere along the way, even near the very end, you have to start back at the beginning. That can be a real pain in the ass and it’s just not right. The game should at least auto-save at the halfway point. Anyway, tonight’s episode is 219, Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 1. This of course means that the episode will end with the three most hated words in TV... TO BE CONTINUED! Argh! In brief, and without blowing any surprises, the fleet discovers a planet that can support them and the Cylons send envoys with an offering of peace. It sounds like good things will happen, but we all know what it really means. Things are actually going to get worse and very likely, much worse. I am anticipating a lot of interesting surprises. I hope we get to see a new Cylon model, or two.

In other news...

Ron Moore (all bow) recently updated his blog as well. I haven’t read it, being deathly afraid of spoilers, so I don’t know if it contains any spoilers or not. Read his entry here, at your own risk. UPDATE: I did read it and it is spoiler free.

There is also an interview with actress Grace Park, aka Sharon “Boomer” Valeri on the Battlestar Galactica Hub. Umm, Boomer.

Fantasy, horror and scifi writer, Graig Shaw Gardner has submitted his finished manuscript to TOR Publishing for a Battlestar Galactica novel due out this coming August. The title is, THE CYLONS' SECRET, and it's a prequel to the events on the show, delving more deeply into the background of three of the show's regular characters. Read all about here, on the author’s blog. Something to look forward to.

If you aren't already, you really should read this Battlestar Galactica site. I do and I like it a lot. I get a lot of information from it and it's spoiler free. That I really like and appreciate. I know you will too.

So say we all.

I believe that the latest Dr. Who series will be filling a Friday BSG timeslot until the new season. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

Argh - not "a Friday BSG timeslot..." but "a Friday timeslot..."

The new Doctor Who doesn't grab me. I was never a fan of the old Doctor Who.

Okay, now, I sat down and watched the new Battlestar Galactica largely on your recommendation, so I'll just say: the new Doctor Who is brilliant, and I think you'd be missing something if you don't give it a chance. The look is very different from the old series, and while they've maintained continuity, you really don't have to have watched the old series to "get" the new.

It's also very different from Battlestar Galactica, so you might still hate it. But don't dismiss it until you've watched a couple.

Okay, to be fair, I will give it a look see. :-)
