This week I am going to focus on the character of Karl C. Agathon, call sign, Helo. There is, of course a fan blog dedicated to his character that you can check out by clicking here. Helo also has his own Wikipedia entry here. Tonight's epsiode, number 215, SCAR is a Starbuck-centric episode that also reportedly features a fair amount of Helo. That's why the Helo focus this week. I am delighted that the attention of the series is turning back to the many known and well liked characters, such as Helo, instead of one-shot hookers and black market thugs.
In other BSG news, series creator Ron Moore (all bow) has updated his blog yet again. This time he speaks of childhood memories. Specifically Disney Land and the animatronic Lincoln. Ron Moore (all bow) says, "It's probably also worth noting that more than a little of the politics of Battlestar Galactica can be traced back to these passages originally written by the rail-splitter from Illinois."
Not a bad ep, but they really need to stop the cliche little device they've used for three episodes in a row, now. You know: the establishing scene with the subtitle "x hours ago." Once is enough, twice is pushing it, three times elicits a "Come ON already, come up with a new opening!"
Tonight's episode is also significant for the reappearance of Tucker "Duck" Clellan. He's played by the lovely Christian Tessier, whom I've been a fan of ever since the 1990's excellent revival of The Tomorrow People.
Posted by: Thomas G. Atkinson on February 4, 2006 04:27 AMIt was great to see BSG get back to the characters we know and love (and in some instances love to hate). I always enjoy episodes about the pilots and crew of Galactica. The show is called Battlestar Galactica afterall. Rob, I agree with you and several others who have mentioned the "XX Hours Ago" device. It's not a bad device, but so close together makes it old & stale real fast. I loved that this episode was both character based with Starbuck, Kat, Lee, & Helo all center stage, and action oriented with dogfighting amongst asteriods and and 'kat' fighting amongst the girls. PLUS, insight into the Cylon raiders. The episode was a well crafted combo and one I look forward to watching again.
So say we all!
