A Perfectly Cromulent Idea

For the past ten years I have always taken the week between Christmas and New Years off. A nine (sometimes ten or eleven) day break from the workaday world. It’s normally a time for me to spend with Jenne and the kitties and to stay up and sleep in late. It’s a time to visit with friends and socialize. And it’s a time to read the books, watch the DVDs and play the games I received as Christmas gifts. Not this year. Sadly, I am at work and I will be at work on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday. If I am to take any smidgen of a silver lining from this it’s that I am only working a half a day on Friday and I have next Monday off. WOW! Why didn’t I take the week you ask? Well, I don’t yet have the vacation time to take from the new job. Vacation time becomes available at the six-month mark. When do I reach that mark? The end of January! Jenne treated me so well for Christmas and hear I sit at work when I have the last three seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, two seasons of Futurama (3 &4), season four of The Simpsons, the Mike Judge Beavis & Butthead collection, the first season of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, and four movies on UMD for my PSP to watch. Can you say seriously long butt-numb-a-thon? I thought you could! I have two new video games – We Love Katamari and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth – to play. How can I game when I am stuck at the office? ARGH! Also under the Christmas tree are two books to read and one audio book to listen to! DOUBLE ARGH! This is so damned frustrating. I am sitting here at work and there is very little, practically NOTHING to do this week except that whacky thing with my thumbs and we all know how fast that gets old. Almost half of IT is out on vacation, the lucky bastages! I should be home with Jenne, the kitties and my pile of Christmas booty enjoying the happy, happy, joy, joy of the Christmas season as I have done for so many seasons past! Next Christmas I may have to squeeze in a few extra days to make up for this year! Of course, I could take a break come the end of January or in February when the doldrums of winter have set in. That sounds like a perfectly cromulent idea!

Phew! You've resurfaced! I was beginning to worry about you! Nothing is going on here where I work either, but here I am! A video game for Cthulhu? Tell us what you think of it - when you get a chance to actually play it, that is!

So, are you saying that you'ld be happier if you had gotten crap for Christmas? ;) I'm just joking.
Really it sounds like you had a really great Christmas.

Happy New Year, Will.

I have been playing CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth. It's just like our roleplaying game, except set in the 1920s instead of the present day. Very scarey. For the full effect of the game it MUST, MUST, MUST be played in the dark and alone! No lights, no one to kibitz. Imerse yourself and let the sanity loss begin!

I will write a full review at some point this week.

great, now if I don't see the mini in the parking lot I'll have to worry if you're in your basement with the lights off out of your mind. but, at least you'll be having fun....sort of!
