So, the new Pope (at what point does he become the 'Old Pope'?) would like to rewrite centuries of Catholic dog... errr... I mean 'doctrine' and eliminate Limbo. If that happens what will happen to all of the cool catch phrases and that crazy dance with the stick? This is a stick that you go under by the way, and not one for poking people. AND WHAT ABOUT OUR D&D GAME!? I'm pretty sure our Call of Cthulhu game is okay though.

D&D is based on Catholicism? Who knew? Cthulhu, however, is just based on the insane mind of Lovecraft, so I'm sure it's safe! Besides, I always liked to think Jack was in Limbo waiting for us to pray him out!

There are any number of cosmologies that a game can follow - Norse, Greek, Hindi, etc. As for its "basis" - a heavy dose of Tolkein and McCaffrey, stir in various generic fantasy archetypes and baddies.
Fools rush in where Angels never dare to go! :-)
Posted by: Joe on December 8, 2005 12:21 PMThere were no greater fools than when we played Cthulhu! I'll never forget that funeral scene or the time Jack got thrown out the window! Ride on Jack, Marci and Doc!
Well, this is a good start. If the Pope would just admit that Purgatory, Hell, and Heaven also don't exist, the world might be a more peaceful place.
But I think we'll have to wait for this Nazi to become the "old Pope" first... and probably quite a while beyond that.
