The Star Wars deco on the MINI – AKA Red 5 – is still not complete. It should have been done on October 15th, but the graphics guy cut the roof art for a Cooper S roof (they have a spoiler on the rear of the roof that graphics do not cover), so it was too short, and he forgot my Imperial logos for my kill markings. Well I finally received the Imperial logos in the mail last night, but of course it’s raining, so I can’t apply them. And it’s raining today, so unless I pull into a parking garage and get out of the torrential downpours, I won’t be applying them today either. I just want it to be done.
The other thing that burns me is that I asked the guy to overnight them to me. I didn’t think I was asking too much, since he’s the one who forgot them. Now here’s the rub. On Saturday the 15th he tells me he forgot them and that I should call him on Monday the 17th to remind him to send them. So on the 17th I email him and call him and leave a message. He calls me that night around 7:30. In the course of our short conversation he says that he will ship them as soon as he cuts them. Wait a minute. He said he forgot them and would ship them when he got back. That would seem to indicate that he had them made. Okay, so he didn’t forget to bring them, he forgot to make them in the first place! I ask him to get them done and to overnight them so that they will arrive before the weekend and then I can apply them on Sunday. He emails me on Friday that he sent them regular mail! ARGH!
Let’s back up a few days to last Friday. I think it was Friday. Oh well time is an illusion after all. After much thinking I decide a couple of things about the roof. First, I am not happy with the white section at the rear (AKA, the top of the boot). It ruins the look. Secondly, I really do not want a spoiler, nor do I want to put out the cash for one even at the more reasonable aftermarket prices. If I had wanted a spoiler I would have had it put on when I bought Red 5. Spoilers are just not my thang, baby. So I contact the guy and explain that I want the roof to be correct, as it should have been to begin with. He’s apologetic about messing it up, explains that he understands, and says that he will make the missing section and send it to me along with a refund of some cash. He wants me to be satisfied. I am content with this. The problem now is that I have to choose one of two options concerning the application of this piece. 1) Contact a local vinyl place and have them do it and pay them the money I am getting back, or 2) do it myself and risk fracking it up. This all should have been done a week and a half ago and it should have been done right to begin with. Looking back I could have and should have done some things different. The Latin of the day is Caveat Emptor.
Hmmmmm... Nothing worthwhile easy ever is, young Paduwan. Much anger I sense in you.
