Red 5, Ready for Action! ~ The Unveiling of the Star Wars MINI Cooper

Today was the day that I unveiled my Star Wars themed MINI Cooper, Red 5. We had a party with good friends, good food (thanks Jenne for all the hard work), lots of drinkies and replica light sabers for the ceremonial banging of the plastic toys! Steve-o and I pulled back the cover to the strains of the Twentieth Century Fox fanfare and the opening theme to Star Wars: A New Hope. A good time was had by all and I am very happy with the look of Red 5!

MINIs are better with a bonnet logo on em. Any Imperials I come upon on the highways will know I am with the Alliance! In the windshield you can see a small X-Wing and Tie Fighter hanging below the rear view mirror.

I have the only MINI Cooper XW! From my searching on the Internet I have the ONLY Star Wars themed MINI Cooper, though I know there are other Star Wars fans that own MINIs.

Umm, Artoo is that the brake handle or are you happy to see me?

Thanks to Clark for taking the photographs.

Very slick. I think it looks great. I can't wait to see you out driving so I can point you out saying, "Hey, I know that guy! Well...I know OF him! Well...I read about him on the Internet, but that's almost like knowing him!"

car looks great - even better in person. This has to be the ultimate guy dream of "personality expressed through vehicle" Cool. Also, great party! Thanks!

Hoply Crap that looks awesome will. Of course I think you should've done an Imperial theme, but hey you can do that for mini number 2!

Glory to the Empire!

But see, here's the rub - doing a Rebel Alliance Cooper wasn't Will's first idea. In fact, far from it. Here are his original concepts...

1. The "Small Wonder" Cooper - dedicated to that wonderful TV show. License plate GRLROBOT.

2. The HR PufnStuf Cooper - Purple Haze, with metal flake added aftermarket. PufnStuf roof decal with Sigmund the Sea Monster in the background to satisfy the 15% difference requirement (because no one wants to be hunted down by Sid and Marty Kroft's legal apparatus). License plate LSD4US.

3. The CHiPS Cooper - Black with white bonnet stripes, featuring a bonnet decal of Ponch and John. Official California Highway Patrol decals on the doors, stating "to Serve, Protect, and Wear Really Tight Pants". License plate PNCH4EVA.

4. The "Clan Jade Falcon" Cooper - British Racing Green with white bonnet stripes and Jade Falcon insignia on the roof. Clan Wolf kill markings on the side. License plate QUI AFF.

5. The "Magic the Gathering" Cooper. Let your imagination run wild. License plate MAGEEK.

So you see, it wasn't a cut and dried thing. It did turn out nicely, but I think that the Small Wonder Cooper would've been the BOMB. For more info, go to http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0088610/

Will, you have my express permission to post this in BDTH, the NYT, the WaPo, or any other news outlet other than WorldNutDaily or Newsmax. Oh, and Bill O'Lielly cannot comment on this entry unless he pledges his eternal fealty to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, long may his noodly appendage wave. That is all.

Nice job, but perhaps a little over the top (pun intended) and it almost makes adding vampire teeth to the front of a Miata seem sane. :-)

Oh. My. God. I so have to come east to see this wonder in person. Hmmmm. First must scam free plane ticket...
