My friend Daveed will email me a few times a week and ask, "so how's working in paradise today?" On Friday it was great. Friday was not only casual day with me in shorts and a tee shirt, as were 95% of the company employees, but it was also the day of the annual food challenge cook off! From 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM we ate and drank and we were merry. Seven teams participated in this year's cookoff and we had food from Greece to the Carribean to the South Pacific and we feasted in the shade of the trees. My new employer - I have been with them eight weeks - reminds me a lot of when I worked for Claritas in Arlington. Party on!

Posted by: Daveed on September 20, 2005 12:35 PMI have to laugh at your "casual day". My company is young and hip. We wear shorts and Tshirts every day. We are about to switch to jeans though, the weather is getting colder.

We also do a companywide food thing once a month. It's rather fun. If it's snacks, you travel around to each department and meet new people and eat. If it's entrees or breakfast, we all descend on the breakroom and the company high muckety-mucks dish the food.
