Humane Society of the United States
Best Friends Animal Society
Like many of you that visit this web site, Jenne and I are pet owners, although, since we have cats, I think we are mored like the 'ownees' than the 'owners'. As such, we feel a strong need to help the many pets and other animals that have been left ownerless, homeless and without food and clean water as a result of Katrina. We are splitting our donation between charitable groups. Half is going for the people and half for the animals. If you can help the animals, and after what I saw on the news last night the animals really need our help too, please make a donation in any amount from a few dollars and up to either the Humane Society of the United States or to the Best Friends Animal Society. For the stranded animals time is running out. Read this from CNN.
We are owned by 4 beautiful kitties. We did the same. Half to people and half to the animals. We truly feel for the survivors that were not allowed to take their animals with them when rescued. Our county has just implemented a plan that allows owners and pets to evacuate to hurricane shelters. One just has to pre-register. I can honestly say that I could not and would not live my cats behind. They are part of the family.

Everybody can use help. more power to the dedicated animal rescuers!
