Great Bear 02
The last of the roller coaster in abstract images is Hershey Park's, Great Bear. It is an exhilarating, looping, inverted steel coaster. You ride below the track, not above it. The ride starts by lifting you 90 feet off of the ground to the first drop of 124 feet. As the coaster plummets it speeds up to 61 miles per hour (nearly a mile a minute) as it rips down the tracks, through a loop then into what is called an immelman - a loop that turns you out at the top and then drops you like a falling star! Then the coaster twists its way through a series of corcscrew rolls! There is not a straight section of track on this coaster. The coaster was installed at the park in 1998. The ride is smooth, fast and twisty. I imagine it's like flying a fighter plane in a dogfight. Jenne and I ride this coaster everytime we visit Hershey Park.
