Back From Vacation

Arr matey, and heave too for Irish Jenne the Pirate!
I am sad to report that Jenne and I have returned from our summer vacation, but happy to report that we had an awesome time and our week away was just what we needed. I can now reveal that the heretofore undisclosed island location was Ocracoke Island in North Carolina's Outer Banks and that we stayed at Blackbeard's Lodge. Thanks to Michael for the suggestion of the Outer Banks, and to Jeff & Becky for the suggestion of Ocracoke.

Throughout the week I will be posting photos and stories of our vacation that include flying with the Wright Brothers, ferry boat rides, shopping, great restaurant experiences (hello to Erin at Sargasso Grill), a description of rush hour on the island, a half-day visit to a deserted island village, finding Blackbeard's long lost ice chest, relaxing by the pool and beach, walking and biking everywhere, being barefoot for days on end, shelling along the miles of pristine and deserted beaches (Jenne brought back four grocery bags full of shells), searching for ghost crabs along the beach in the middle of the night, star gazing, bird and dolphin watching (we saw Ibis and Ospreys among others), playing quarters to support the Ocracats, eating hush puppies and drinking from a list of over two-hundred beers, boating, kayaking, parasailing, and walking naked on the beach under the stars. Right now I need to go and wash the sand and sea salt from the car and then start the happy task of sorting through all the photos and reliving it all in memories!
