Pass in Time

sadness.jpg

So much stays unknown till the time has come.
Did you imagine you could ever be so strong,
Then watch your fear just turn into relief?
Your sea of doubt become your own belief?
Though tears don't come to cry some grief away,
The tears will help to keep your need at bay.

So come on now, come on now, child.
You're here just a while.
Come on now, come on now, child.
You're here just a while.

From the song, Pass in Time, by Beth Orton.

This is another image of the performance artwork by David Page. The song Pass in Time began playing on my iPod Mini when I started to work on this image. I thought that I would share with you bits of the songs I listen to while working on my photography. The songs have a definite influence on my thought process as I work on images. I find it interesting that, sometimes, I am not consciously aware of the song I have been listening to until it ends. I know that music is playing, but I don't consciously hear it. I can tell you though that if music isn't playing I am consciously aware of its absence and the deafening silence. I just can't work without music.

About Beth Orton... I absolutely love Beth Orton's songs and especially her voice. I don't know how to put into words how listening to Beth Orton make's me fell, but her songs reach me at a very deep, personal and soul touching level. My favorite places to listen to her are at home while working on my photography, laying on the floor petting the cats in the afternoon sun, and while spooning with Jenne.

The two entries you've posted associated with this performace piece are very dramatic. The lyrics you've chosen to pair with them heighten the drama and it cannot be coincidence that the songs accompanied your work. I feel the presence of a force...
