don't rely on me
my feet are stuck and my eyes leak
but I feel the ceiling drop
the floor rising
it won't stop
time away is all I need
a curse walks around here
I see it hide behind my chair
and it peers at me
it's grip is so strong
it bruises me
everynight the light blows out
silence hears me coming
everyday it fakes us out
silence hears me coming
Lyrics to Time Away, by Denali.
While I was working on this image -one of a large series of images concerning this performance art piece - Time Away was the song playing on my iPod Mini. To me it was a synchronicity and the song -not just the lyrics, but the instrumental part as well - fit the image.
I made this image at the Baltimore Pow Wow from a performance art piece by Baltimore artist, David Page. I do not know what the piece is called and I have not heard back from the artist. Here is a quote though from the artist's web site concerning performance art,
I am particularly interested in the intersection of sculpture and performance and the way that intersection is presented so that a viewer might see a piece of sculpture, not as a complete work, but as evidence of, or residue from a larger event. What also interests me is how one chooses to document an event, which is bounded by time, and present it in a static or timeless manner."
I wonder what he means by "residue"? I guess i'll have to check out his web site....You're always presenting such interesting stuff!!
