Monday, Snowy Monday

TireTracksInTheSnow.jpg

I can't believe that I made it home from work in the heavy snow in a little over an hour! I have only had that happen about half dozen times on a really nice weather day. I am sure that if I had left work in Reston, VA at 4:00 PM I would not have been so fortunate. As it is I left at 2:00 PM. That makes a world of difference. My overall plan for this snowy day was laid waste thanks to the totally miss predictions of all of the Baltimore/Washington area ass-hat weather prognosticators. I awoke this morning at the regular time of 5:30 AM and immediately tuned into to the DC area news channels. They all agreed that it was going to start snowing heaving by 7:00 AM in DC and that it would not let up until after the evening rush hour. Predictions were calling for anywhere from 6-12”! Being that I usually get to work around 7-7:15 AM I figured that I might as well stay home and not fight the weather. Back to bed I went. I got up at 8:30 AM and it had yet to start snowing anywhere in the DC area. I called into work (on a work day you have to call in) and spoke with my director. She said it wasn't snowing and could I please come in and help get a software update out the door. She also said she was going to let people go early if it started snowing. ARGH! I shower, dress, skip breakfast, head out the door, hit 7/11 for a coffee and head down the road. Compared to other work days there is no traffic of which to speak and I make the fifty miles it to work by 10:00 AM. Five minutes after arriving in the office it starts snowing. Joy. I work for four hours and it's snowing so heavily that visibility is about seventy-five yards and the roads I can see from the windows are white. My director says go home and amazingly enough traffic moves at a consistent fifty miles per hour and I make it to the warmth and safety of home in a little over an hour. I am thankful for this, but I have to be honest and say that I would be more thankful if I could have just stayed home in the first place. I made the above photograph right after I backed into a parking spot out in front of our home. Now that I am in, I am staying in.

LOVE the pic, hate the placement of your name. Just calling it like I see it.

Dave, I think ther might be a few jobs in MD...I seem to be able to eat.

I got rid of the annoying name placement as per MM's feed back. Thanks for the honest feed back MM. The image is better without it.
Peace,

VERY NICE! Your little prose added pain to my day but I took comfort in the fact that *I* got to stay home all day because of the snow. :)

Sweet shot though. Now I know I'll wear out my clutch trying the same thing. Thanks a lot.

A little additional info about the above photograph. First, I am presenting this photo exactly as I shot it and it is actually in color. I did not crop this image in PhotoShop, nor did I remove the color and make it B&W. Secondly, if you want to try this yourself you MUST do it right the first time and also hope that a neighbor doesn't ride up and over your tracks before you get the photo. Less than 10 seconds after I made this photograph a neighbor did just that. Somethings are very fleeting.
Peace,

This is an extremely cool piece of "rubbermade" artwork! But how in the heck did you do it? It obviously involves backing and turning but I still can't figure out how you did it...Indeed you are a man of many talents!

That is a great pix. LIke it was drawn! Have you recovered fromm the flood yet? I had problems in Chicago with sump pumps. If the power went of we would flood! What a mess!

WOW -- (a) this photo is beautiful; (b) what a drag about the flood (I hope things are improving) and (c) it's been tooo long. I'm going to go grab some dinner and catch up -- I feel like I haven't been here in years! :)

Happy March 1st-
I found you via my husband and he found you through "Prop" web logs like T4BB or something like that.
So, Thomas says to me tonight- "...take a look here- I think I might have met him long ago... it is a good site to bookmark" Which made me think- do I know you in some small capacity too? It is a small world after all...?(no singing please...)
Any-hoo! Helloooo! Lovely web site. I will enjoy reading more with a nice hot cup of brown in the mornings.

Will,

This shot is great. When I first saw the photo I didn't know what it was, then I read the title and description. Your imagination always comes up with a unique way of looking at everyday things.

Great shot, Will! I thought it was iron scrollwork shadowed on the ground. Who knew it would turn out to be tire tracks? Beautiful!
