Where Does He Get the Time

I was on the phone with Jenne just a little while ago and she commented that I have made a lot of posts to this here blog in the past two days. She's right. I have. No doubt about it. I have been a posting machine. She asked me what exactly I do at work all day. I am sure that some of you wonder the same thing from time to time.

I am a software quality assurance analyst - I love how the words 'ass' and 'anal' are in my title, it cracks me up - and tester. Much like the military I often hurry up and wait. I wait for DBAs to fix databases, I wait for software developers to write new lines of code and fix bugs, I wait for new installation packages, I wait for... I wait a lot. While waiting I write testing checklists and keep track of bugs in the bug tracking database. When I am done with my checklists and bug squashing activities I still seem to wait a lot for all of the stuff I wait for. Then I get really busy because all of those things I am waiting for usually come at me all at once. Again like the military I have moments of quiet and boredom punctuated by moments of extreme excitement and hectic activity. During those lulls I make blog entries. So, in a very real way, you can tell how busy I am on any given day at work by the number of blog posts I make. That's what I do at work and that's how I get the time.
