Tree Fungus seen along the Sherrick Farm trail at Antietam National Battlefield. I did a little digging to find out exactly what the fungus in the above photo is. According to this web site it is called The Chicken of the Woods and it is edible. Read all about it by clucking... sorry... by clicking the prevoius link. It grows on decaying and rotting logs and stumps and it is very pretty. I find it to be a fine subject for photography, but I am not interested in it for its culinary uses. Has anyone reading this ever tried it? What's it taste like? AND don't say it tastes like chicken.
Levitra.
Valium.
Adderall.
I thing it tastes like frog legs. ha...ha...

Posted by: Lynn on December 13, 2004 10:13 PMI guess I should have been more specific, but as Gram above has stated, mushrooms taste like mushrooms. It's very tasty -- not as intensely earthy as porcinis or morels, more like oyster mushrooms.
I've also seen it called "hen of the woods."
