Ummm gee... Lisa... thanks... I guess.
I am back in the office and back to the long commute from hell. Today sucked because of the fog. Man I miss the short conference commute already. Sigh.
The above was part of a software exhibitor's booth at the software testing and performance conference. Their testing software is called LISA (read the entry Where's Will for the meaning of yet ANOTHER acronym), and what it has to do with big butts is anyone's guess. It's just another one of those ad campaigns that I just don't get and neither did any one else at the conference. No I didn't bother to ask them what it meant because that's what they want so they can trap you into listening to their long winded speal about how their test automation software can work miracles with the click of a mouse button. Yeah, riiiiight. One of the things that was stressed at every training session I attended was that no test automation software is automagic! I am not interested in the hype of marketing speals, but I was interested in the buttons thery were giving away that read, "LISA rocks my world" and "LISA is easy." I am going to give them to MM because his girlfriend is named Lisa. My bother Tom would probably like one too because his wife is named Lisa. The free tee shirt has the creepy doll's head on it on a blue/gray background. I got two of those just for the high creepiness factor. Okay, so I did pick up a few of their product fliers, butt I haven't reviewed them yet. It's just more marketing hype, butt it is easier to deal with because it is in print form.
From way far away from your world of computers my guess would be "Thanks to LISA my butt isn't so big" is a reference to something more women than men know about - the phenomena of "secretary spread"....when you have a job where you HAVE to sit on your butt all day, which I guess you would if you were testing software, your butt gets bigger. Women tend to carry weight in their lower abdomen, hips and thighs anyway. So there's your feminine/ feminist perspective of the day. Though the plastic head is kinda creepy from this perspective too!

Creepy, it is.
Posted by: Professor Pan on December 10, 2004 04:39 PMIt's requiring a little reqprogramming in my poor simian brain, where LISA usually stands for Large Installation Systems Administrators, and is a user-group for nerds who manage beaucoup servers.
He's HOME and on the road again! Your two worlds! You need to become a computer traveling photobug! CTP hey tha's pretty good! Have a greaat day Will.
