The New Mac Daddy
My play/work area with the old Dell Pentium II 450 and 21" monitor. The case for my other Dell is on the left. Jenne is getting one of the Dells and the huge monitor for her study/sewing room.
I am now the proud Mac Daddy of a brand spanking new iMac G5. The new baby arrived yesterday, December 1st at 11:22 AM. It was so difficult to stay at the office when I heard of the arrival.
My play/work area with the new iMac G5. The 20" widescreen monitor IS also the computer. The CD/DVD superdrive is located on the right side of the monitor, which is only three inches thick. All of the ports are on the back right of the monitor/computer. The mouse is plugged into one of two USB ports on the keyboard and the keyboard is plugged into one of several USB ports on the back of the monitor.
Baby and I are doing fine, although I am still a light headed from the experience, overwhelmed by baby's beauty (the design, the monitor/computer combo, and ease of setup amaze me) and of course I am tired. I had to take baby into Baltimore last night for a new baby check up (getting lots of much meeded software and music installed) and once I got home at 10:00 PM I just had to get everything set up. I did think briefly of going to bed when I got home, but I honestly knew that was just not going to happen. It took me four times longer to disconnet the old Dell and move it off of the desk than it did to set up and configure the new iMac. Amazing! I reclaimed 80% of my desk space!

Thanks Jenne for giving me the money to put towards the iMac that you would have spent on other Christmas gifts. This is what I really wanted and needed. Love ya!

Posted by: Professor Pan on December 2, 2004 03:48 PMYES!! MAC LAN PARTY!!!!!!!! I sure miss those LAN party game weekends I threw when I had three Dells and they were all new. Some of the guests - MM, Jeff-ster and Fred - would bring their own PCs and jack into the hub and we would have six PCs running. We played a lot of Unreal Tournament, HalfLife, Starfleet Command, StarCraft, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and WWII combat flight sims! We would start Friday at 7PM and played straight through to Sunday at 2PM. I think we slept maybe four or six hours. Coffee from the local 7/11, Chinese carry out, pizzas and loads of snacks, beers and high test Coke were the menu for the weekend. Those weekends ROCKED and I sure as hell miss them.
