Radial Engine, National Air & Space Museum Annex, Dulles.
I know I haven't posted in two days. That's pretty unusual for me and I hope I didn't have you worried that something was wrong. Everything is cool. It was just a busy weekend with lots of things that needed to be done photographically and computer wise. I'll tell you more about all of that in another entry. Speaking of photographs, I photographed the radial engine pictured above on April 6th, 2004; the same day I interviewed for my current job. I find it hard to believe that I have been here and commuting to Reston, VA from Ellicott City, MD for almost eight months. EIGHT MONTHS! Talk about time slipping, slipping, slipping into the future. The commute has been the worst and if you live in Maryland and are thinking of working in Northern Virginia - AKA NoVA - I advise you to seriously think again and stay in Maryland. The traffic, the miles and especially the time are a major be-otch! Thank God for my Honda with its hybrid motor! I haven't reported on my gas mileage in a long time, so allow me to give you a little report. On my last tank of gas I got 43.4 mpg. On a thirteen gallon tank I got over 560 miles! Not too shaby. I wonder what the assclown in the SUV that cut me off this morning is getting? Well the hybrid motor is wonderful, although having a plane - even one with a radial engine like the one above - would sure help ease the commute and get me above the traffic. It would also cut my time to under thirty minutes instead of the sixty to one hundred and ninety that it takes now. The only problem would be where to land the plane?
You're so green. I'm so impressed.I think the plane is a poor idea - no more friends of mine getting into small planes! not allowed!
Posted by: Lynn on November 22, 2004 12:03 PMHi Lynn, I guess it is possible to be a Green Liberterian! I completely understand why you feel the way you do about the small planes. It would still be better than traveling the Circle of Death - AKA the Capital Beltway - several days a week.
