This week from tonight through Friday night the Leonid Meteors will be raining down. You'll need to get out to a nice dark spot away from city lights to watch. Read all about it here at Space Dot Com. About two years ago Jenne and I got up at 1:00 AM and drove out to South Mountain, Maryland near Burkitsville (setting of the Blair Witch Project) to watch the show. We laid out a blanket on the side of a hill just north of the cemetary and watched a few dozen meteors streak across the sky... until the fog moved in across the whole region. We headed back towards home and stopped in at the Forest Diner for breakfast. We didn't expect it to be swamped at 4:30 AM, but the place was packed with fellow meteor watchers. I don't know that we will be able to get out and see the show this year. We might try on Friday night.
