Holy Birthday Cake Batman... Will is Turning Forty!
My good buddy Clark Oliver was my official photographer for the evening. The good thing about digital versus film is that you can shoot with abandon. The bad thing about digital versus film is that you can shoot with abandon. You will see what I mean shortly. Clark shot 186 images! Geren was Jenne's official photographer and he shot somewhere around that many... maybe more. Here's a sampling of the photos that Clark took during the evening. I think they will give you a good sense of what the party was like if you were not there. For those of you that were there the photos will bring back lots of very silly and fun memories! Enjoy. I sure did.
The food is ready and everyone is hungry waiting for Will to arrive.
The drinks are ready. The pink stuff in the blender is half a round of Zombies. Umm zombies aaarrrrrrr.
The guests are ready.
Michael and Michael are ready. My friend Mike Marshall is on the left. I have known him for over twenty years. Friend and roleplaying game master Mike Hughes is on the right.
We need more drink! A fine selection of beer complimented the wide range range of wines and mixed drinks.
SUPRISED!!
Jenne is delighted that everyone pulled off the suprise.
I give Jenne a big thank you kiss. Awwwwwwww.
IT'S TED! HOORAY!! Ted kept me out of trhe house for over seven hours so Jenne and everyone could prepare. Ted was instrumental in making the suprise possible
Jenne's best friend, Michelle was also instrumental in making the suprise happen. Michelle made the delicious birthday cake in the shape of a camera! It was DEEEEEEE-LISH! Thanks Michelle.
The drinking begins with my first Zombie. Three, maybe four will follow. I lost count.
lt. Dan presents the Staff of Entrapment. Read my halloween story to understand the significance of the staff and to get the joke.
Lt. Dan gets knighted while drinking from my Zombie chalice. I had impressive control over the staff despite being pretty drunk.
Time to blow out my birthday candles. I wished that the alcohol fumes on my breath wouldn't ignite the candles into a fireball.
Out of town and out of space guests get cake and drinks.
The opening of the presents commences. Just what an already drunk Will needs. Yagermeister! Shots anyone?
What's in this tube? I could also hear the ocean in the tube, but being as drunk as I was I could have heard anything.
Why it's a print by artist Shag! That's totally psychedellic baby, YEAH!
Halo 2 for the X-Box! AWESOME! Guess what I did most of Sunday... that's right played vidoe games. When I wasn't sleeping. Woo, what a night.
I also got a great pair of tits for my birthday. Look at my impressive clevage! This is the back of an X-Box magazine that came with Halo 2.
This little piggy got drunk off of his ass. The little piggy had money in him for me to put towards a new computer. Nice piggy!
A toast for the toasted! My third zombie and I offer up a toast and a great big thank you to my wife and dear friends. The fun isn't over yet.
Steve and I find that sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall is the best place for drunks.
The drunken stage we call Philospher Will. Thank God for the support of that staff.
For the forth or fifth time I tell the drunken story of how Ted kept me out of the house.
All the Whos down in Whovillethe drunk and the tall found that the best way to stand was against a hard wall!
Ever wonder how a drunk and happy Will sees the world? Now you know.
Special thanks again and again to Jenne, Ted, and Michelle for their Herculian efforts in planning, preparing and cordinating my party. And thanks again to all of my dear friends who could be in attendance to make my early surprise 40th birthday party so fun and so special. I had a fantastic time that I will long remember and long talk about. Now you are probably wondering why Jenne did this in November and not in January or closer to my actual B-day. Well, the holiday season is upon us and we all know how busy that gets, so the time between Thanksgiving and New Years was out. To hold it in January we run the risk of snow and ice. So it just had to be done early. And besides I never expected this sort of thing so early. So it all works out. In January we will celebrate my birthday again with my family and all of the nieces and nephews. My four through nine-year-old nieces and nephews really don't need to see a totally sloshed Uncle Will. So, like Jenne, I get to stretch this mile-stone birthday out over a couple of months and you just gotta like that. Thanks again everyone. I hope you enjoyed this photographic look at the party. But wait! There's more! See the rest of the story here: http://www.gerenm.net/archives/Individual/001991.php
Posted by: Geren on November 14, 2004 07:57 PMBTW, Clark actually shot 257 images! You just didn't see them all, as some were shot on one of my CF cards -- I was downloading your card to my portable drive at the time! Anyway, I'm making up two CD-ROMs for Jenne -- one of my shots and one of Clark's.
Posted by: Geren on November 14, 2004 08:13 PMOHHH Happy Early 40th birthday Will!!! You sure don't look or act it and you have a really nice pair of boobies! ;-) tee hee. You are something else! You aren't afraid to cut loose and you can obviously laugh at yourself. That's awesome. I am so sorry that I missed out on this killer party, but maybe I can catch you for the actual B-day in January. By the way, who's grabbing your butt in that photo at Geren's site? Did you also get your birthday spanking? If not I'd be sure to give you a good spanking come January! ;-) tee hee.
