Where do You Rank in the Hierarchy?

So... where DOOOO you rank in the Geek Hierarchy? Click here and find out and share your answer with the rest of us.

I start in the third row from the top with the comic book fans who don't care about subtitles in their Japanimation. I am also a video gamer, a Heinlein fan and a TV science fiction fan. I also play role playing games and have read Piers Anthony. I did at one time write fan fiction. If they had a Trekker box I would fall into that too, but they only have a Trekkie box. Trekkies live in their parent's basements and although I spend a lot of time in my basement my parents have nothing to do with it. Jenne and I own our basement. MTFBWY!

Of course I'm an SF/Fantasy lit. fan. What sensible person isn't? ;-) Lower down the chart, folklore and mythology was part of my major. I like Heinlein (though would stop short of calling myself a fan); I also like Piers Anthony. I've written erotic fan fiction. Don't speak Klingon but can speak Quenya (Tolkien's Elvish language). I am pretty damn geeky, I think it's fair to say!

Okay, so what are "Furries"? That sounds too weird even for a SciFi girl like me.

I am a sifi nut! I dont see any thing else! I quess I am not a furrie?

I am in several of the tiers but I don't think I qualify for the honorable title of "Furry!" Oh, to be so Geek-a-licious!

Posted by: Becky on September 21, 2004 06:39 PM

That's pretty good. You are as geeky as the lowest category into which you fall.

So, while my husband is a published SF writer, I'm just a SF/F lit fan, a Heinlein fan, I've read and enjoyed Anthony, I just got a job at the Ren Faire, and I'll even cop to being a Trekkie because I think that TrekkersTrekkies, to borrow the chart's usage. I'm more of a Star Wars fan, and I did get married in Jedi garb, so that's just above the furries.

But wait! I have read and enjoyed a few erotic furry comics, and am seriously considering making a furry costume.

I haven't written fiction since High School creative writing class. Come to think of it, my fictional version of me was rather catlike. Okay, that counts. I am a full-blown geek.

Go Me!

Here's a furry site, if anybody's still wondering:

Thomas, Thanks for the Furry link. Now we know!

I'm not sure exactly where I fit on the chart since "People who used to be Trekkies but think that Trek has been ruined and now are only pure Star Wars fans, like the prequel trilogy and have shelves full of lightsaber and blaster props, some handmade" is not a category.

Clark, Put yourself in the box for "people who buy expensive replicas of fictional fantasy swords". A light saber definitely qualifies, as Star Wars is a space fantasy and you do own A LOT of light sabers. You've even made your own and nice ones too. You can also fall into the Trekkies box, just replace Trekkies with Star Wars Fans. You can't hide it... you're as geeky as the rest of us. Oh and then there's that awesome Han Solo costume you made. Revel in your geekiness my brother!!
