Ready for the Coming Storm, 128th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry monument along Cornfield Ave.
Getting up Saturday morning was a little rough. My muscles were sore from the previous day's hike. No pain in my back though for which I am thankful. I packed a couple of extra pairs of socks and some dry clothes. The weathermen were calling for more rain, so I best be prepared. It didn't rain one drop all day at Antietam on Saturday! Now, had I not brought dry clothes it likely would have poured. Because of the weather forecast attendance was down, but it was still good. In the morning I assisted Ranger Mike Gamble with the morning hike from the East Woods to the West Woods. Mid-day I photographed the rededication ceremony of the 90th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry monument, and in the later afternoon I assisted Rangers Keith Snyder and Brian Baracz with the more challenging hike on the southern end of the field. The worst thing we had to deal with all day weather-wise was the wind. A pretty stiff wind blew out of the north all day, but the sky was full of dramatic clouds, which I love. The photo above clearly shows what the skies looked like all day. Click on the links below to see other photos from the day.

Beautiful photograph. The placement of the monument in the frame against the clouds is right on. The curve of the soldier's body matches the curve of the clouds. It's great to see a photo with a cloud filled skies. Too many photos out there with plain blue skies, yawn.
