Safeway Sushi
I went cheap for lunch today. How cheap? Four dollars and sixty three cents cheap. The good thing about Safeway Sushi is that is is cheap. Unfortunately it also makes me crave really good and more expensive sushi. There will be a trip to The Orient in Towson, Maryland in my near future. Must have their California Rolls and seaweed salad.

I cannot bring myself to eat supermarket sushi; chewy rice, brown avacado, it's like ordering the "fresh" tuna steak in Iowa or something. It's just not right.
/paranoid and still here...
Posted by: mm on September 14, 2004 02:47 PMI'm with you MM. I tried the grocery store sushi and it tasted like artificially flavored cardboard - of course this was right after I had BEEN to the Orient!

Dude, there is one right down the road from you in Fairfax.
Posted by: David on September 14, 2004 04:28 PMDude,Jeff and I have eaten at Arigato Sushi and it is NOT the same thing as The Orient in Towson. I have been to The Orient four times and I know from personal experience. No sushi in the Baltimore/DC/NoVA area compares. The Orient is to sushi what Hattori Hanzo is to Japanese steel!!
Posted by: Becky on September 14, 2004 05:36 PMTry Sushi Sono at the lakefront in Columbia - the only thing that Columbia has done to benefit the world. It'll give The Orient a run for its money.
You HAVE to go to Sushi Sono. WE have to go to Sushi Sono. Let's make it a Friday night outing. You have to go really early (close to 5pm)or late (like after 8:30) otherwise, you'll be waiting for like an hour for a table.
Posted by: Theresa on September 14, 2004 07:58 PMWould love to try Sushi Sono. Friday nights are extremely difficult for me to do anything early. I get off of work at 4:00 and then it's an hour and a half (minimum) drive home from Reston. Usually on Friday's it is more like a two hour drive. So we'll have to plan for later in the evening if we plan for a Friday. I seriously doubt that Sushi Sono's California Rolls will even come close to thos of the Orient though, but I'll try em.
