When I got last week's Theme Thursday email announcing this week's theme all I read was the subject line, "Taking A Break" and I thought - as usual - that it was this week's theme. On the Friday before an email would come from TT and the subject line was always the coming week's theme and that is generally all that I read. The rest of the email was always the rules and about how, where and when to post; so I stopped reading the entire email months ago and would just read the subject line. Well today I discovered that 'taking a break' is not the theme, but an announcement that my favorite weekly photo meme is literally taking a break, and that it very well may be a permanent one. That really has me bummed. I have participated in Theme Thursday for over a year and submitted well over sixty photographs. I may have missed two weeks in the whole time I participated. Well I still have PhotoTime Tuesday and Photo Friday, but Theme Thursday was my first photo meme love and always has been my favorite of the three. I met many creative and fine photographers through TT too. My camera and I are heartbroken.
The below is what the rest of the email from Reb at Theme Thursday said.

I've decided it's time to take a break from Theme Thursday. Whether
this will be permanent or temporary, I haven't decided yet. I've got a
lot of big things happening in my life during the next few months that
are going to take up much of my time. I also haven't been having much
fun with Theme Thursday lately and decided that, rather then burning
myself out, I should take a step back for a bit and see how I feel
after everything is done.
If you'd like updates on the status of things and whether or not Theme
Thursday will begin again in the future, feel free to leave your e-mail
address on the list. Otherwise, you can always unsubscribe by using
the form provided on the main page.
Thanks to those of you who have participated faithfully for so long and
offered to help out with Theme Thursday. It wouldn't have existed
without you. :)

You know, YOU could start a Theme Day yourself, but I'm half afraid of what kind of themes you'd come up with! : )
Posted by: Uber-Pea on August 19, 2004 12:44 PMI'm in denial. I pulled out a picture I took of the Miata yesterday and posted it to my blog, making up my own theme to fit the photograph. :-)
I even used the Theme Thursday category...
I also posted a theme thursday shot - Entitled "Taking a Break"
While I have only done 14 entries to this meme I am a little disapointed that it is to be no more. However Dale at Spunwithtears has put up a challenge to anyone who wishes to participate..

As for Theme Thursday.. Do we get a wake?
Posted by: Stu on August 20, 2004 05:02 AMGreat minds think alike. When she sent us the email last Christmas that said the theme was 'none' I was going to shoot empty boxes under the Christmas tree. It finally dawned on me that it meant there was no theme and TT would be on holiday break.
I lack the patience, time, and web space to host a meme with that many submissions. However, the infant meme, What is it Wednesday, is experiencing a core participation group that even appears to be growing. Feel free to stop in and devote some energy to guessing about someone else's photo

Posted by: juli on August 21, 2004 02:10 AMI was heartbroken too! TT was my first and favourite meme. It was through TT I first arrived at your website - the theme was heat, you took some pics at a restaurant despite the protesting manager! I'm happy to learn Dale at Spunwithtears came up with something (Thanks Stu for sharing this precious info :)
