Jacky Gets His Revenge, USAAF P-47 Thunderbolt in a simulated bombing run. 2001 Wings of Freedom Airshow, Frederick, MD.
I pulled this image from my Warbirds of WWII photo gallery. The nose art on this particular P-47 reads Jacky's Revenge hence the title of the photo. I like to think that I am the pilot of this classic fighter making ground attack runs on SUVs. That's a Hummer H2 going up in flames after I just released my bomb load on it. KABOOM! I shot this action photo of a simulated bombing run three years ago - YIKES three years ago! - at the annual Wings of Freedom Airshow. Until this coming September 18-19 the WoFAS was held at the Frederick, MD airport. After ten years there it is moving to its new home in Martinsburg, West Virginia. That's about another hour farther than it was from me, but that won't prevent me from going. What may prevent me from going is that that same weekend is the anniversary weekend of the battle of Antietam and as long time readers know, I am a volunteer at Antietam. For the past three years I have participated in the anniversary hike and I just received a letter from the volunteer coordinator at Antietam asking for any and all help on this busiest of weekend. Looks like that weekend will be an action packed one full of history and photography for me!
The above photo is my submission for this week's PhotoTime Tuesday Action challenge.
You make me smile! My personal target would probably be those cars with really LOUD speakers that shake the house as their deaf drivers drive by. ;-)
