Fizz, Little Skittles FIZZ! They certainly put a frothy head on a beer.
The Ingredients for SkittleBrau
Skittles After A Beer Bath
Taste the RainBeer!

Homer: I'm feeling kinda low, Apu. Got any of that beer that has candy floating in it? Skittle.. you know.
Apu: Such a product does not exist, sir. I think you must have dreamed it.
Homer: Oh. Then just give me a six pack and a couple of packets of Skittles.
From the Simpson's episode, Bart Star, Season 9, Original Airdate 11/09/1997.

Ever since that particular Simpson's episode I have always wanted to mix up a tall frosty glass of SkittleBrau! The beer that quenches Homer's thirst. This this week's Theme Thursday challenge was just the thing to make me finally do it. What did it tast like? You'll have to make your own - if your over the legal drinking age of course - and find out for yourself!

Making your own SkittleBrau
Ingredients:
2 pkg. Skittles
1 6pk. Duffenbrau (or your cheap beer of choice)
instructions:
add Skittles candies evenly to 6 12oz. cans of Duffenbrau
chill briefly
makes 6 servings
NOTE: You may want to use caution when preparing Skittlebrau. When Skittles are added to beer it creates a chemical reaction, causing the beer to foam.

cool colors....but nevertheless, a drink i think i'd skip...even if it DID have an umbrella in it.

Mmmm... sweet, sweet beer!

(No longer vegetarian after the addition of Skittles, though, and maybe not before -- who knows what they put in mass-produced beer anymore?)

So is the "abstract" photo just the color swirls carried on the current of bubbles, or did you photoshop it in any way, Will? That one and the ingredients picture are my favorites of these five.

Great photos as usual, Will, and kudos for doing an experiment that needed doing. You have expanded the frontiers of human knowledge.

~Skittles in beer...hmmm, I think I will stick with good ole' fashion plain Guinness~

I'm appalled that you treat Rolling Rock in such a manner. Before the yuppie-bar crowd got ahold of it in the mid 90's, it was a pretty respectable brew. If I recall, "Thursday" was an excellent vintage for RR.

Not a beer drinker myself, but I do like good photography and that you have done! I love the first photo! Great job!

Very clever idea. It doesn't sound very appealing to me, but the colors are wonderful. :)

Ha! Great take on the theme. Mmmmm. Skittlebrau.

"Taste the rainbeer" hahahahaha!

I really love that closeup of the Skittles in the beer. It's unexpected and unusual, I like it ;)

Good on originality.

I love the close up of the Skittles and foaming beer, and I'm so amused that someone actually made Skittlebrau!

(To the person who commented about Skittlebrau not being vegetarian: most beer isn't, though it depends on the brand.)

Skittlebrau...eeehhggzellent! Mr. Burnham.

Posted by: Renee on August 13, 2004 06:30 PM

i don't know if it eased your thirst... but surely filled my eyes... kudos!
