Traffic of the Damned

My Theme Thursday photo for this week's challenge of Twisted is obviously going to be late this week. Probably not until Friday evening. The new job and commute - well just the commute - has sucked up a lot of time. Time that I would otherwise be using to shoot photos and watch The Simpsons and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I haven't seen much exciting to photograph during my commute except traffic and that isn't as exciting as it is maddening. Besides who wants to see dozens of photos of the traffic crawling along or stopped on the Capital Beltway. Believe me, if I am stopped and see something interesting I will grab a photo of it. Besides the main focus of the commute is to actually drive and survive and not be looking for photo ops. With all of the nut-ball demolition derby and Nascar wannabes in Virginia and Maryland I best pay attention to the road! In the almost two-weeks that I have been doing this new commute I have tried many routes to avoid as much of the beltway as I can and hopefully shorten the commute. These 'experiments' have all led to the same sad conclusion... there is no alternate or shorter route and if there is a traffic jam on the beltway for any reason I am cursed to lurch along with the rest of the traffic of the damned.

BTW, I set a new commute time record last night for the drive at two hours and ten minutes. I broke it this morning with a time of two hours and fifteen minutes for the longest commute. If you want to see my previous times click here.

hello Will my wild the american fiend,

to habid, it sounds that Will has sold his sole to the Devil. U must now travel the traffic of the hell to arrive at the New soon to be SLJ.
Is there not the alternative route. Or do manny the american travel to the same place of the work? Habid to wish you the better is luck in traveling to the place of the work.

If you place the tiny american flag on all 4 the corners of the kar, and tint the window is dark, will the other kars move out of the way for you?

good the luck,

habid

I'd rather eat out of the trash then to be driving for that long. I complain about the four miles I have to go, but then again I'm a huge whiner...

Is any job worth that?

good the luck...

Ah Will, my fiendish American. You obviously have much good the luck, that you are getting Theme of the Thursday email before the Saturday. Here in the England we do not get told about it until late of two days. By which time we have eaten all camels, cats, dogs and goats which could have made interesting subjects of "twisted".

I hope you find a quicker way to work.

2 hours and 10 miuntes? Sheesh...I don't think I could afford to drive that long of a commute with the gas prices. In the last week, gas in Northeastern PA, has been going up four cents a day... I'm sure we'll be a $2 a gallon by Saturday at this rate.
