Mmm beer ahhh
This is how you would see any episode of the greatest TV show ever, The Simpsons if you were me; through the bottom and side of a beer glass. Yes you are seeing Homer through a beer glass as I finish a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat beer. This is no Photoshop manipulated image. My camera's len is in an actual beer glass and yes that IS real beer. The Simpsons is the only television show I watch regularly... Jenne would say religiously! Every Sunday evening I am in front of the television at 8:00 PM with a beer enjoying the latest antics of Homer and family. This is my submission to this week's Theme Thursday challenge of Television.
Here's how I set up and shot Mmm Beer Ahh. I mounted my Minolta Dimage 7i to my tripod and set up in front of the couch at about regular TV viewing distance. I turned on every light in the living room. Using Scotch tape I masked off a quarter of the opening of the glass to create a small damn. This kept the beer in the glass and from pouring out onto the floor. Can't have precious alcohol soaking into shag. I manually set the aperture and shutter speed, and set the lens to 28mm macro. I poured just enough beer into the glass to allow me to coat the glass and make it look like the last drink. With my left hand I tilted the glass up and put the end of the glass over the camera lens. With the glass over the lens I used the camera's flex-point focus to set the focus on Homer's head. With my right hand I depressed the shutter release over a dozen times. That's how it was done. By the way the image on the TV is from the season three DVD collection of The Simpsons. Can you guess the episode?

Posted by: Dave on March 25, 2004 12:31 AM'great perspective' would be a wholely inadequate comment for this picture. That's one filter the Cokin System does not have - but they just might begin research on it;)

Posted by: Lorien on March 25, 2004 01:20 AMLOL! You are not lazy when it comes to imgination at all! Shag and beer do not mix...and the wife may find it odd when she came in to you on the floor sucking up carpet fibers through a straw.
