Saturday morning the trunk of our car is loaded with food and Jenne (left) is handed two Christmas turkeys from members of church. We were off to deliver food baskets and turkeys to a couple of underprivileged families in our community.
With the car loaded down with food Jenne and I were off to make deliveries and spread some goodwill and cheer to the less fortunate families in our county. Each year we sponsor a Christmas food basket and this year was no different except that we participated with others from our church in the delivery of over 100 such baskets. With map and addresses in hand we were off to deliver two baskets. They aren't actually baskets, but huge boxes and it was a challenge stuffing two of them in the truck. It was quite an experience. The two families we visitied were very appreciative and thanked us profusly. At the first home the mother was teary eyed with joy, and at the second the children were very excited to see so much food and asked me who we were and who sent us to their house with all the food. As Jenne and I walked out the door I said we were friends and that we were sent by Jesus. They yelled MERRY CHRISTMAS to us as we left. It was a worthwhile way to spend a Saturday morning.
