Communication by artist Dara Friel. Oil on canvas.
Getting to know new friends can be a challenge when the only two times you’ve been with them has been in Tiki bars. There’s lots of laughs, noise and fun, and this is all good and makes for great times. The one opportunity that doesn’t present itself however is the chance to get to know someone as in what they do for fun. Where did they grow up and go to school? What did they major in? What are their hobbies and their passions? Case in point is my friend, Dara Friel. I’ve seen her twice at Honolulu, but I never knew until an email exchange this morning that she is an artist and that she is very passionate about her oil painting. This is the kind of stuff I want to know about the people I call friend. I also found out that she is having a solo show in just a couple of weeks at Gallery West in Old Towne Alexandria, VA. You can learn a little about my friend, Dara and her beautiful surreal-abstract oil paintings by clicking here. Of her work shown on the Gallery West web site my favorites are Communication, Landscape, and The Dance. I find it to be other-worldly and beautiful.
Dara's show is Saturday, June 28th from 5 - 8pm at Gallery West, located at 205 S. Union St. Alexandri, VA 22314
You're the best Will.
See you soon.
Dara
Wow, this stuff is great. I'm fascinated by the "Eve" one. Thanks for the info, Will!
