Local Artists

ArtCollage.jpg
When I got out of the house around lunchtime on Tuesday (my sick day) I drove through Old Town Ellicott City looking for photos to fit this week's Theme Thursday challenge of "sharp". I stopped at the corner of Saint Paul St, New Cut Road, and College Ave, which all come together at a very sharp corner. While there I met these two ladies who were painting the town. Nancy (in the pink top) and Kathy were taking advantage of the great weather, as was I to create images. Where I 'paint in light,' they paint in oils. It was a pleasure to meet them, and we had a nice time discussing art and photography and the creative process. They were also kind enough to let me take some photos.

I like the composition of the bottom left photo. It's interesting the way you lined up the painting with the buildings. the bottom right looks like my roommate from college. You have a good eye for balance within the composition. I like the palette too. It's balanced by the layout of the elements, the closeup shot makes it interesting because you can see the detail and the shadow.
